Family

I so love that my kids are getting to spend some time getting to know their cousins this week! We have a total of thirteen kids-- Emily, the oldest at thirteen, Kade and Colter at eleven, Anna, ten, Jolie and Kamy, nine, Megan, eight, Abigail, Bowen, Jack and Claire at five, Lily, three, and Owen, one on Saturday. They are just having a great time being together, on the beach, at the pool, in the house. This afternoon we've got a few napping, a few playing wahoo, and a few with the dads out on waverunners. All good. Back to the pool with the little ones when naps are done (claire is learning to swim!), then hoping to do a beach photo shoot this evening...

Also, prayers of thanksgiving for all going well in my dad's shoulder surgery this morning. Looking forward to seeing him for Father's Day.

Cannot even express what an awesome time we are having! Beautiful house, gorgeous beaches, and the whole Pruyn clan together. God is so good.

Memorial Day Weekend

We made a short trip back to Louisiana this weekend to attend Scott's mawmaw's funeral. Mawmaw Turner was a true cajun woman, full of life, spunk, and laughter. Our time with Scott's family was full of funny stories, and good visiting. The great-grandkids all enjoyed spending time together.

We came back to Texas Sunday night, and spent Memorial Day hanging at the Noack's pool with our lovely Pearland friends. There were probably 8 or so families, lots of kids, lots of fun and good food....

Oh, and ice cream.

And some really cute boys.

This was really Owen's first time in the pool, and he had a great time!

The Pruyn family was well represented in the Minute to Win It competition, at least by Anna and Scott. Not so much by me and Emily, but it was fun.

Yes, he actually got those five cans to float on a plate in a bucket of water. That LSU engineering degree is really paying off.

One week until we load up and head to the beach with the WHOLE PRUYN CLAN! I cannot wait!

Grillin and chillin

Last summer, Scott got two big Father's Day gifts...a gas grill and a baby boy! Both are making this summer a lot of fun. We are out back at least one or two nights a week, and we just all enjoy sitting out back, even Owen. Tonight we had chicken and sausage on the grill, then we cut up a watermelon and enjoyed that outside as well. We have had such a mild spring, and even today, with the temp close to 90, the breeze made it feel so nice!

Claire gets so much joy from her baby brother. She is so good at entertaining him, dancing, singing, making him laugh. I hope they stay such good buddies.

These are my two most willing models these days!

It's summertime and the living is easy

More kayaking fun!

As I type this right now, at 8:30am on Saturday, Scott and Anna are actually out fishing in the kayaks. Left at like 5:30. Anna has her Dad's adventuresome spirit, and sometimes her mom's homebody nature starts to wear on her. She's always ready to get out of here and go! She had a daddy-date last night to see the new pirate movie, and the two of them made some early morning fishing plans. Love that they love to hang out together!






Need to take some new pics of the big boy today. 11 months old already, can it be? He's cutting his second tooth in as many weeks, so he's a little fussy....but Owen a little fussy is still quite a bit happier than the average baby!
Planning to have his first birthday party on our beach trip to Destin in June, with ALL the Pruyns...it's going to be awesome!

Tiny dancer

Monday night was Claire's ballet recital, and it was so wonderful! When they first came out on stage, she had a little trouble finding her spot...but Miss Lani jumped up and pointed her to it, then she was all business, with a big smile on her face! I was so very proud of her!





This is our fourth little girl to take ballet, but Claire truly LOVES it! She never complains about going to dance, even though I have to wake her from her nap to get dressed. She listens, obeys, and really enjoys it.


The whole recital lasted about forty minutes, only six classes, but each one was precious, sweet, funny and worshipful. Kudos to SBC-SPA and especially to Miss Lani.

Lately

Things have been crazy busy around here. This year of work (lvs) has definitely been my roughest-- the hardest i have worked, with the worst results. Well, tuesday was the official end of the lvs school year, so my dear husband came home early, with a dozen roses in his hand, and took me out on a date (Nana and Poppa were in town for Claire's recital, more on that later)! And not our usual dinner and maybe target date... We went kayaking! Drive 5 minutes from our house and you are in the middle of some lovely nature, and you'd never believe we live in the fourth largest city in the nation. So fun and relaxing and quiet. Definitely something we will be doing again.

Hello, beautiful!

I am feeling very spoiled!

Nine months up, nine months down

It’s one of those things they say to moms, referring to your weight. But nine months always seems like a big milestone date for me and my little ones. I’m feeling like myself again, back in my regular clothes, almost back to my normal energy level. Still nursing 5 or 6 times a day, but now that he’s eating baby food, it makes life a little easier for me. And this little guy has become a part of our new, wonderful normal.

At 9 months, Owen’s hitting some big milestones himself. He’s sitting up on his own, which is BIG in my book. It means that I can set him on the carpet (with a pillow behind him, of course) and put a few toys in his reach, and he’s a happy camper. I can sit nearby and fold clothes, or read or do school with the girls, and he is quite content.

He doesn’t take a pacifier or anything like that. He comforts himself by sucking on his arm. His pj sleeves are usually a little damp in the morning. But he also does it when he’s being cute or shy, and it comes across like this “GQ kind of arms up to show you my biceps thing”. A big hit with the ladies (ie. me and his sisters).

And the chubby little legs and feet, yum!

And the hair, can we talk about the hair?

The sweet, fluffy, Bieber-esqe hair.

No teeth yet, still those sweet lips.

And, finally, the smile…it melts my heart, every time. Happy Nine Months, Buddy!
